Lolo Brian is the kind of man people naturally look up to. His presence alone commands attention—there’s something about the way he carries himself that radiates both authority and wisdom. He’s a born leader. When he speaks, people listen. When he gives a directive, it’s followed. It’s no surprise that he has earned so many titles over the years—people call him Sir, Attorney, Atty, and even Brod (short for "Brother" among peers). But beyond that commanding exterior lies a kind, soft-hearted, and deeply loving man I have the honor of calling Lolo.
To celebrate his special day, our family woke up before dawn—around 4AM—to make our way from Bago City to Bacolod, where Lolo lives. We wanted to surprise him by attending his daily mass, something he never misses. When he saw us walk in, the joy that lit up his face was priceless. That alone made the early wake-up call and long drive more than worth it.
After mass, we continued the celebration over breakfast at Bascon Café—a place that holds a cozy familiarity for all of us. We laughed, shared stories, and simply soaked in another year of being blessed with Lolo’s presence.
The day went on with our regular responsibilities. My sisters stayed behind in Bacolod to take their exams while the rest of us returned to work. But little did Lolo know, another surprise was on the way. Our coworkers at Chekana—his team—had a small but touching celebration prepared. They surprised him with a teddy bear bouquet and a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Along with it came a letter filled with kind words and gratitude for having the privilege to work with such a brilliant, respectable, and inspiring leader.
Later that evening, I had booked a reservation at Rosè Franz, a charming restaurant along Lacson Street. This time, Lolo knew about the dinner and invited his closest friends, classmates, and family members. It was an intimate gathering filled with warm conversations, laughter, and heartfelt toasts. We capped off the night with photos, desserts, and a little champagne—nothing too grand, but filled with love, respect, and appreciation.
That day was more than just a birthday—it was a quiet celebration of the life of a man whose presence has shaped so many lives, including mine. A leader, a mentor, a friend, and most importantly, our beloved Lolo Brian.
Here’s to more years of wisdom, love, and legacy. We love you, Lo. 💙
