Cebu Diaries: Day 1 - Food, Family, and a Full Heart

Cebu City

January 1, 2025

Cebu feels like my third home, right after Dumaguete City. Even though we don’t own any property in either place, they’ve somehow managed to own a big piece of my heart.

Escaping reality for a bit felt so refreshing. Being able to spend time with my family, enjoy great food, and share moments of laughter—there’s honestly nothing better. I feel incredibly grateful that I’m able to treat them to experiences like this. Seeing their smiles makes all the long days and sleepless nights of work feel so worth it. It's a reminder of why I do what I do—and it definitely pushes me to work even harder this year.

Day 1 Highlights:

  • First Stop: Brumini Resort, Oslob. We had breakfast here to fuel up before heading to the city proper.

  • Second Stop: Simala Shrine, Cebu. I’ve visited before—maybe my second or third time?—but each visit feels just as humbling and soul-refreshing. There’s something about that place that makes it feel like Mama Mary is really listening. Every prayer feels heard, and each visit leaves my heart a little lighter.

  • Third Stop: Carcar, Cebu, for their famous Lechon de Cebu. Still undefeated. Every bite hits the spot.

While we were heading to the city, I took care of booking our hotel so everything would be ready once we arrived—bags down, freshen up, and off to dinner!

  • Dinner: We headed to IT Park and explored the night market. Big servings, small prices, and so many flavors to try! We also visited Midsummer, a dessert spot I found on TikTok, known for their bingsus—and yes, they lived up to the hype.

That wraps up Day 1 in Cebu—a day full of food, family, and fun.

Scroll down to see the highlights of some masasarap Cebu eats! 😂🤪
