Mom's Golden Year
Mom's Golden Year
Palm Fairway Club
January 14, 2025
I’ve always had big plans for Mom’s 50th birthday. After all, every mom deserves the very best—especially mine. In my head, I pictured a grand celebration, maybe even a surprise party with all her closest friends. Some of them even hinted they’d help out (maybe telepathy really does work when you love the same person that much 🤣).
But as the day came closer, I found out that Mom didn’t want a big party. She just wanted something simple: a quiet dinner, time with family, and peace. No fuss, no noise—just love in its calmest form.
I realized then that I had been exhausting myself planning something she never asked for. I could’ve just asked her what she truly wanted—but where’s the fun in that? 😂 Still, it reminded me of something important: it’s her day, not mine. She gets to choose how she wants to feel celebrated.
And on January 14, she was content. She spent the day relaxed, watching her favorite TV shows, and finally having a moment to just be. I realized that, for someone who gives so much of her time to others, having a day to slow down and breathe is already a luxury.
Of course, I still wanted to make the night feel extra special.
I reserved a table at Palm Veranda, the restaurant at Palm Fairway Club. We had dinner, good conversation, and a few drinks. What Mom didn’t know was that Dad had a little surprise planned of his own: flowers, a necklace, and a handwritten letter that totally made her kilig. 🥰
The night ended in laughter, full hearts, and memories we’ll always keep.
Mom, I hope you’re happy.
I hope I’m making you proud.
And more than anything… I hope you know how much I love you.
